What do VodafoneZiggo and the LHBTIQA+-community at VodafoneZiggo do around Belonging?

We’re working hard and are well on our way, but we could certainly do better. I’m a member of the LHBTIQA+ community myself, and I feel from my employer that I can be my real self. My wish would be more diversity in the SMT and SLT. That's where we don't have role models for our community (yet)!
In addition, it would be nice if the LHBTIQA+ community could better find each other within VodafoneZiggo. There are definitely many events, but they’re concentrated around summertime and all the Prides. During the corona period, it was possible to find each other more in our daily lives.

What does the Pride Utrecht theme 'U Belong' mean to you?

On that day, everyone is a part of Pride, not just tourists or people from the queer community. Many of my friends from Amsterdam are coming to Utrecht especially because the theme of Belonging feels so dyed in the wool here. In Utrecht, Pride is really for the people. That’s in stark contrast to the much bigger Pride in Amsterdam. In Utrecht, there is literally still a place for everyone.

What does the message of the ring mean to you?

I think the ring is a very good idea because through the ring, people who feel lonely can connect with others. That can be a huge step to those new to the community. It all seems to be very nice and one big party, but you can still feel alone. I don’t know whether I’d have gone to Pride on my own when I had only just come out, which is why I think it’s all the more praiseworthy if people have the courage to take that step.
myself noticed that relocating and meeting new people enabled me to become truly acquainted with the queer community and make new friends. It made me feel a sense of belonging and because of that I could be myself with them.
