When you start a traineeship at VodafoneZiggo, one thing's for sure: it's going to be a proper adventure. But where, exactly, will it lead? Morgane Patris’s journey shows how you can shape your own path at VodafoneZiggo. During her traineeship in Customer Operations (COPS), she discovered a passion for all things related to sustainability. Now she’s part of the ESG team, doing work that truly drives and inspires her. We’re curious how she found her way there.
Brought from Paris to Utrecht by love, Morgane Patris initially intended to find work in a sector she knew well: sport. But then her boyfriend told her about traineeships. "Companies that pay a lot of attention to your personal development and open all kinds of doors for you. The idea sounded wonderful; they don't do that in France."
So, how are things in practice? "I've seen and learned an awful lot, and met such interesting people. And whenever I was assigned a project, I was given free rein and encouraged to decide myself how to go about things. It's so wonderful to truly be allowed to give your opinion and make your own decisions. I realised that I'd gotten used to less inspiring work environments." It has everything to do with the open culture, she explains. "You can share a coffee with anybody, literally. When I start a new project, I always approach the relevant director. They're always happy to sit down and talk about the task at hand, and we just have fun conversations as well."
"For the out-of-comfort project of her traineeship, Morgane joined the Treasury team, in the Finance department. That’s where it all kicked off for me. My project was to get audit assurance on our carbon footprint. It was the first time for VodafoneZiggo to do this. I met many new people across the organisation, it was amazing! This sector moves fast and everything constantly changes. Every day I picked up something new and kept learning on the go."
To Morgane, the core of her work is more important than which department she’s doing it in. She explains, "I loved my second project so much that, for my final assignment in COPS, I pushed to do something related to sustainability again. And it worked. I jumped into sustainable packaging and mobility. I looked into optimising packaging and exploring e-bike solutions for our technicians, for example."
"The traineeship helped me a ton. I got to discover completely new subjects and work on projects that really drive me. It helped me find out what topic really suits me. And I landed the perfect role after my traineeship. One that matches my passion and keeps me motivated every day. Morgane is now an ESG manager. She is developing and implementing our environmental strategy while making sure we meet all CSR regulations.
"Next to my job, I get the opportunity to guide current trainees that do a project in my team. It’s really rewarding to see them grow. As a Project Manager, my goal is to build the right project, focusing on their growth, not just the output. And I love doing it!"
