Internship at VodafoneZiggo from September 2024 till January 2025
Floor Doeser had a clear goal for her internship: to work on projects that create impact. And that's exactly the opportunity the student of Creative Business was given. "From rewriting content to coordinating a photo shoot – my internship at VodafoneZiggo was diverse and educational."
Browsing LinkedIn one day, Floor saw an ad for an internship with VodafoneZiggo's Employer Branding Team. "Its inviting text quickly gave me a good impression of the internship, and I decided to apply the same day." The interview that followed made her even more enthusiastic. "My future supervisor told me all about the cool projects I'd be able to work on, and about the freedom to come up with my own ideas. She also emphasised that, as an intern, I'd be a full team member from day one, which turned out to be the case."
During the first few weeks, Floor started with small tasks like improving the copy on the careers site. But her responsibilities soon expanded. "One nice project was to update the Young Talent page on the careers site. My research had shown that young people find attention to diversity and inclusion very important – that you can be yourself and recognise yourself on the site. I rewrote the copy in a more engaging way and ensured there was a wide variety of images. Working on this taught me not only about creative writing, but also to make choices that truly appeal to a target audience." It was a very special moment when the page went live: "I made that!"
Another project to challenge Floor was the photo shoot for the new office in Leeuwarden. "My colleagues asked if I wanted to take the lead. But at first, I hesitated, because I had no photography experience. What won me over? The confidence my team had in me and their promise to help me. In the end, I planned and coordinated everything." On the day itself, Floor directed the shoot together with the photographer. "I would have never expected to play such a big role in an important project."
Over the past months, Floor has grown professionally and as a person. "To begin with, I was afraid to ask questions and doubted my ideas. My supervisor offered coaching sessions to help me with this and we had regular conversations to get to the root of my insecurity. Thanks to several small assignments like, 'This week, ask two questions,' I soon gained the confidence I needed."
Floor's conception of working for a large company changed significantly during her internship. "I had expected a very formal atmosphere, but in my department things were casual. My team sometimes felt more like a group of friends." And the fact that she was allowed to work from home was a pleasant surprise too. "I discovered I like that very much; a must for any future job."
"I don't know exactly what I'm going to do, but I know it will be something creative. And my internship showed me how cool it is to lead projects from start to finish." Floor has some advice for future interns at VodafoneZiggo: "Have faith in yourself. Here, you get the freedom and all the support you need, so simply take courage and go for it. Even if it seems a bit scary. Ultimately, that's the best way to learn."
