Management genuinely cares about the opinions of trainees
Utsa is grown to the function CRO & webanalyst. This story goes back to the time she was a Discover Trainee.
Utsa studied Economics at Erasmus University, where she also completed her Master in Marketing. Like so many marketing graduates, she was aiming for a traineeship at an FMCG company. But when she came across an Instagram ad for VodafoneZiggo’s traineeship, she decided to apply anyway. “Before I knew it, I attended their Assessment day. And the company vibe there was so good, I got really, really inspired!”
That hasn’t changed. At VodafoneZiggo, the atmosphere is vibrant. The people are young and dynamic. Everybody’s running around, and easy to approach. Including directors. Even the people in upper management are really matter-of-fact. It’s super normal for a trainee to approach a manager. Or to have a lunch session with the CEO. There’s a lot being done to raise our profile in the company. And that’s not just ‘for show’ either, because people genuinely care about our opinions.”
Open to change
“What makes VodafoneZiggo truly unique, is that people are very open to change. And there are lots of changes, we’re also going through an agile transformation. People approach it curiously and are open to it. What I also like, is that we move really quickly here. If you have a go-to-market plan, people expect you to execute it in three to six months instead of one to two years. There’s plenty of room for experimenting. Additionally, at VodafoneZiggo, marketing is a highly evolved field. To me, that realization came as a bit of a shock at the time, but it’s obvious when you think about it. After all, we really know our customers – how much data they use, what products they buy, et cetera – which helps us shape our campaigns and communications. It’s cool to be a part of that.”
